Though the above post is mostly true, sun exposure can help indirectly.

During the summer the sun will cause you to sweat, clearing your pores. It will also dry out and tighten the skin, but dont think that laying out all summer to be a good thing. You can suffer from over-exposure and then the above posters statements can become reality.

If you want a little in depth on acne, try these tid-bits on for size:

Acne is caused by the bodies glands producing oil and mixing with dirt, dust, dead cells.

Acne is not stress related, though is indirectly effected by stress.

Acne is another one of the bodies ways to help keep itself healthy.

Acne can be calmed by eliminating unheathy elements such as nicotine, caffine, grease, chemicals, overindulgence, etc.

Acne can last a lifetime if you do not get rid of the above unhealthy elements.

Those unhealthy elements are the "indirect" way that stress makes acne worse. Typically why acne gets worse a day or so after the stress has started.

I never get acne were I am tanned like my forearms, lower legs, face and neck. My poor lilly white shoulders tend to be the worst affected. Coincidence maybe?

Being a person who suffered with mild acne, I have found that the sun is very useful in helping clear it up. It will not cure, but along with other preventive measures, it can help out quite a bit. Just make sure you protect your skin from over-exposure.
Some of the above is true. One myth that many people confuse is the link between your diet and acne. It has never been proven that your diet (chocolate, sweets, potatoe chips) has any affect on acne.

I'm a big surfer, and I live in Florida. So naturally I get alot of sun. I've found that staying in the sun and exercising (yes, for you lazy ones) gets rid of acne. Just make sure to wash your face with a mild (natural soap, eg. ivory springs) soap afterwards. Moisterizing is also recommended as peeling is not good for you.

Iv got a south african friend (white) and he isnt spotty at all, he just has a nice tan and lots of freckles. But dont stay in the sum too long, or your skin will dry out and make your acne worse. Exercise helps, which is why outdoor sporty types have better skin than people who stay inside on game consoles all day. U will look best in the summer holidays because it is low stress (no school/work) and you have more time in the sun.

sun exposure definitely clears up acne in the SHORT term (couple of days) but it does not clear acne permanently by any means. For example, in the beginning of the this summer i went to the beach literally every single day to skimboard, and my face was completely clear. now i have only been going a couple times a week, and even that short of a break from exposure makes me break out even worse than before, but if i go out again it will go away for a couple days again and be fine. in my experience i have found that constant sun exposure completely clears up your skin, but take more than 2 days off and ill break out really bad, so i kinda HAVE to go to the beach now, kinda frustrating

There's no doubt in my mind that sun exposure helps acne. Another is salt-water from the ocean. I had severe acne when I was young and it always cleared up at the beach. Sun and salt together I think is what did the trick.

yes, the cancer eats the acne

No comments. Post one | Permalink

  • To a certain extent, yes. I spent a week of my summer a couple of years ago on the lake and my acne went away (not permanently, though =( lol). So, I was outside, in the hot Georgia sun, during peak sun-burn time (10am to 3pm), with the water to reflect the sunlight and make it stronger. I wore sunscreen, and got just a slight sun burn (a little redding, but no peeling, and it didn't hurt.) So make sure you wear sunscreen; it will protect you from skin cancer AND improve your results when using the sun to prevent acne. If your skin gets too dry from the sun, the oil glands will work up, and your face will become even MORE oily, thus MORE acne. So limit the amount of sun, and it will work.

Not at all. As a matter of fact, too much sun exposure can cause skin cancer to say the least. Try a good facial cleanser, Noxzema, Clearasil, or Neutrogena(to name a few). Follow that by an astrigent to dry up the oil and unclog pores. Then slap on a good acne cream. The above mentioned facial cleasner manufacturers also make good astrigents and acne cream. Another thing is to watch your diet. Some people have break outs after eating a large amount of sweets(chocolate for example). If all else fails, consult your doctor.

I've been in that situation and there is really nothing you can do about it. There are things you can do to try to reduce the blemishes and get rid of acne/pimples temporarily but you will always be finding yourself cleaning your face or your body depending on where it's at.

I mean of course your acne should go away eventually but for some this is the case their whole life.

I'm 29 years old and have been suffering from these little pests since I was a teenager. I tried all sorts of face washes from the local grocery store and what not, but nothing seemed to work. If anything it would just make my skin dry and itchy.

Literally the best acne face wash I've ever used has been this stuff called clearpores. It has got rid of the acne to quickest and has been a success ever since I got it. It's unique cause of it's herbal supplement you take a long with it that helps your skin from the inside out. I saved money on it at skincleansingsystem.com at the time which was helpful.

You should really look into this stuff and if you can to assure the best results, get the 3 month supply because if it doesn't work it will still save you butt on the return policy.

Well good luck and best wishes.
