It is what is used to judge people. What a person has done in the past is the kind of person they typically are today. All of their past experiences are bundles up into what you see today, good, bad or a mix. the people who will downrate me are those who were bad in th epast and think that it doesn't matter anymore what they did. The way I see it is we are who we are. There is no changing it
If you mean like history class, yeah, I see no point to it. If you want to know it, look it up. q:)
Hard to get the true account of history. Everyone has a point of view. I was not there I can't know the true story 100%.
History repeats itself. If you know the past you can predict the future.
If we learn from the mistakes of the past, we are less likely to repeat them. Unfortunately most people refuse to learn. +5 Lynn
There is no such thing as a true history. It always biased on one's particular view. The best way to learn history is to read historical accounts of the same situation from several different nations.
well
it makes up what the world is today
it's cool to see how the human race has changed throughout time
some history we definitely shouldn't be proud of, but you can't escape it
1. It's full of interesting stories, sort of like a novel, but they are actually true!
2. You can learn from it - if something didn't work in the past, then don't try it again.
3. It's fun to watch the trends, fashions and styles.
4. You can create a new personna by borrowing ideas from past cultures.
5. It helps to explain where we are coming from, which helps, in a way, to understand where we are going!
Do you know what your life would be like if your memory was erased, that is what it would be like without the world brain. Or History.
Maybe history will tell lol
It makes us more aware of what is going on today. See, for example, events just prior to the holocaust.
It's an infinite pool of knowledge of questionable provenance.
A few quotes by some more or less distinguished personalities.
David C. McCullough: .... History is a guide to navigation in perilous times. History is who we are and why we are the way we are.
Edward Gibbon: .... I have but one lamp by which my feet are guided, and that is the lamp of experience. I know no way of judging of the future but by the past.
Friedrich Von Schiller: .... The history of the world is the world's court of justice.
George Bernard Shaw: .... We learn from history that we learn nothing from history. We are made wise not by the recollection of our past, but by the responsibility for our future.
George Santayana: .... Those who cannot learn from history are doomed to repeat it.
