First off,sting wrote it but it's by the Police. I love the song it's brillant and I feel the song to me is about a man who wants a beautiful girl to notice him and go out with him.But in the end,it probably will never happen because she doesn't like him or notice him.Then later on in the song its like his wish will never come true.Then the man loses hope and goes into a depression.I also feel its about not getting or achieving certain goals in life,reguardless of your will,but its a love song in disguise.:)

That was a while ago, an oldy but goody. I can see what you mean, actually I turn it on it's head and apply it to myself, watching that my actions are true to a universally good nature. If I'm feeling mean, it sounds like a bodyguard song.
