• ... it doesn't mean I've seen much, except for what was on the way ;) - but flying all the way over Canada, in early summer, was fascinating! As it's 4 years since I last left the island, next I'd like to travel around the mainland.

• I have gotten around. My last passport just expired and had about 170 stamps in it. I traveled a bit for vacation, but mostly for work.

• I work for a very large global company and my responsiblities are global. I travel somewhere half of the time. The other half is in the office. However, I am always home on the weekends to be with my family. Business travel is far from glamorous. There are a lot of early morning flights, late dinners and late evening flights as well as the all night flights.

• Yes, it sounds like a stressful job, but rewarding in some ways. I hope you are learning new things everywhere you go and picking up some antiques or art works, for that is what I would do. I'm sure you would probably trade all that for being with your family. How much longer do you plan to keep this job? That is a lot of travelling. Whew!

• Woodshill, I agree with "business travel is far from glamorous"! Even with the best intentions I hardly ever had the time to find out where I was! (and I even stayed within the same time-zone) - still, I'm very glad about it, because without a "reason" I might not have been to some places :)

• Marguerite-The job is stressful and the things I have learned have made me much less American centric. I have bought a few itemes. The only ones worth mentioning are a Persian rug and two maps fromt he 14th century. As far as how long will I do this? I think just over 8 years. Then I plan to retire.

• Anyway, I think you have an amazing list. I can hardly imagine the knowledge that you have gained travelling to these places. I have only been to Mexico and the Bahamas, but I am an avid reader and fairly well educated to be able to appreciated learning about all these countries. Are you going back to any of these, or do you have a new list of countries to see? I do not see any South American countries.

• When I looked over the list to answer your question I noticed I forgot Italy. I have South Korea, Australia, and the Czech Republic planned for the first quarter of 2010. I will a traveling back to most of them. I will be in Germany, France and Japan before the end of the year. Next week I will be in California. I also do quite a bit of domestic travel. I have employees in most of the countries. As far as South America, I don’t have a real good reason to go down there for business, but my wife and I are thinking about the Galapagos Islands for a family vacation. That may be in the next 5 years. I don’t know your age, but I am sure you will find your way to the places you want to see. Reading is a great way to experience without the travel.

• Looks like you have covered much of the globe. You have many of the countries I'd like to visit, especially Europe. I've only been to New York City, much of New Mexico, a bit of Kansas, Mississipi, Oklahoma, Colorado, Arkasas, and Florida. What has kept me home is going to school so much--getting two degrees in music and then teaching. Then I changed professions and am self employed and working as an artist. I play the piano professionally also.

• Marguerite, It sounds like you have some talents. Teaching and quite artistic. I love the piano, but do not much talent in music or the arts. My wife doesn't even let me whistle in the house, but she does let me collect a few art pieces. If your interest in in travel, I am confident you will find yourself in far away places in the future.

• Yes, I love to travel. I loved going to Mexico City to see the cathedrals(I also love architecture!), the pyramids, the Archaeological Museum, and many of the other sights Mexico City has to offer. The archaeology blew me away! I had seen the movie about Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera, as I was deep into Mexican art then. So that made it that much more special. When I visit the Vatican, I will have studied all the paintings in the Sistine Chapel, for I have a book about them. How was the Vatican? Yes, I'm a classical pianist. You could learn to play the piano without whistling or singing.

• I have thought about taking up the piano when I get older and have time for lessons. You never know. I am into photography and have taken a number of photos of things that I have seen, but none of the Rome though for some reason. The Vatican and the Sistine Chapel were stunning. I was there twice. The first time I toured St. Peter’s and climbed up to the top of the dome. A couple of Pope’s were laid out in the Cathedral. It was amazing how small they were. I have to admit, the Sistine Chapel was cool. I was given a private tour of the Sistine Chapel and the Vatican museum after they closed one night. (Not really bragging, I have gotten some great opportunities because of work). The artwork in the museum and the paintings in the Chapel were breath taking. It was hard to believe I was standing there looking at the ceiling. Something I had heard about most of my life. It was also surprising how much art work and sculptures they had in the museums that were clearly taken from other places in the world. I have always enjoyed the churches because the communities always put so much of their wealth and time into them. They are masterpieces.
  You spoke of architecture. Did you know Chicago has the most diverse architecture in the world? Most of the European architectural schools send their students to Chicago to study the buildings.

• Photography is fun. I take lots of photos to capture nature so I can use ideas for my drawings. I'm working on a catologue right now because I want to paint the mountains around and the different plants that grow here. I'll send you a link of the area I live in. It's gorgeous and very isolated. I can't wait to see the Sistine Chapel and the museums the Vatican has of the art work from around the world. I didn't know about the diversity of the architecture of the buildings in Chicago. I remember they had the Chicago fire and had to rebuild. I'll check them out. I have many questions on AB on architecture that the architects here have helped me with. I love the buildings in Dubai. Have you been there?

• You live in a very beautiful area of Texas. I lived in Texas over 20 years ago. I was in Dallas on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday this week and it was not anywhere near as striking as the hill country and mountains of Texas. That would be a great area to photograph wildlife. • Awesome! I noticed you have insects. I love to draw them. I have some art work of my collections of insects I like. The photos are so nice and colorful, very artistic also. I have photos of the gorgeous orange sunrises, and red sunsets, like my avatar. That is the reason I chose it. I have pictures of windmills(the old fashioned kind), hawks and their nests, all kinds of cacti, and, of course the different mountain ranges around here. I hope to put those in an album, I could allow you to see those also. It would be fun to see each other's photos. Thanks for sharing. They are very beautiful!

• Marguerite, Thank you for the compliment on my photographs. I really like photographing insects, birds and animals…as you can tell. Insects are tough to get right. I have hundreds of shots that did not come out right. I will search for some other architecturally interesting photos for you. • I'm going to post some of it in my profile in December. I was going to get it on there in October, but we had a death in the family and I'm having to stay home near my parents to support them. My brother passed away right before I was to leave on that trip. As for finding time to do both? I don't have to practive the piano much. I can already play and sight read very well. I practive about a week before I perform. I don't play more than 2 hours at a time. That is a lot of music too. My hands and fingers get tired!

• Thank you, Woodshill. He had been ill for about a year. I appreciate your kind words. I have several songs I like to play. Chopin's "Revolutionary Etude", Bach's "Preludes and Fugues", Rachmaninoff's Rhapsody and "Theme from Paganini", as well as pop music. I also like Charlie Brown's Song. I like Scott Joplin Rags. Beethoven Sonatas are also a favorite of mine--"Pathetique" and the "Moonlight Sonata". There is so much music from every period and add a little jazz. Let me see if I can find a few links of the songs. I'll post it under this one.

• Here is the "Revolutionary Etude" played by Andre Watts. Of course he is one of the most famous pianists in the world. I can play this nearly this fast. The piece is not that difficult. I learned it in high school.

• Marguerite-I have always loved the Charlie Brown song. I remember watching Charlie Brown on TV as a child and hearing the music. It brings back good childhood memories. I know the other two songs as well, but did not know their names. More familiar than knowing, perhaps. It looks like Revolutionary Etude pretty much uses the whole key board. I have started working on loading up some more photos from places I have been for you. I am trying to focus on art and architecture. I will let you know when they are ready for viewing.
