Maine voters defeated their gay marriage bill. In response a judge is planning on outlawing ALL marriage... (either it's for everyone, or no one). How does that sit with you?

Suits me fine as a second-best alternative. . Both the U.S. Constitution and the Constitution of Maine guarantee all Maine citizens the equal protection of the law. . Given that the majority of the voters of Maine feel so strongly that gay people shouldn't be given the protection of the legal framework of marriage, we should take them at their word and deny them the same privileged status. . And then lets see how much they like it. . I'd rather have the institution extended to everybody, but Maine obviously feels differently.
