Pot is a bit worse for you than many people imagine. It's not an entirely harmless drug.
Having said that, I'm all for legalization. Drug enforcement and the imprisonment of a few hundred thousand people at taxpayer expense for the crime of being an entrepreneur or junkie is a waste of everyone's money. We need to spend it on something more important, like health care.
Scenario One: Man gets pissed off at his boss and co-workers, swings by bar and drinks a bunch, decideds to go back to work with an assult riffel and blow them all away.
Scenario Two: Man gets pissed off at his boss and co-workers, swings by his friend's house and gets stoned, tells his buddies how much it sucks at work while they play PS3 and chomp on munchies.
Man One dies as a prison wife.
Man Two dies of a corinary at 35 from too much junk food and no activity.
I don't think marijuana use is good for society in any way. However, policing it has been a failure, just as prohibition was a failure. We are wasting a ton of tax dollars here on a drug that isn't particularly dangerous.
I think it would be a very good thing, it would take alot of people out of prison who don't deserve to be there in the first place.
Legalizing or marijuana would be great . It would eleminate hiding and create more state income nation wide it would create more jobs. And everyone could actually chillout and get fucked up. It just would need strict regulations just like alcohol
I agree we should regulate it's use and basically decriminalize it. I agree with those that say it's not as harmless as some think it is. Anything that produces a psychotic effect, paranoia, should be considered "not good" for you. I'd rather see someone who's smoked coming towards me in a car than someone who's drunk. Don't call marijuana a harmless drug, though.
We should try it, give it a decade of zero Federal interference and see what happens.
Nice idea. However, I'm pretty sure the rates of marijuana use stay fairly constant regardless of laws. If marijuana was legalized, everyone would not just suddenly start using it. It's a shame though, I suppose we would be more mellow.
And heck, there would be no more war! Why? We'd all be too busy looking for snacks to fight :P
Legalizing Marijuana would be a great thing!
Imagine, How empty the hospital wards would be on the weekends if people smoked Marijuana instead of dranik Alcohol. People would be alot happier, alot less voilent and YES Chill the F out.
Problem is the government will never legalise it.
Hemp can be used for;
Clothes
Medicine
Paper
Building materials
Food.
Legalisation would effectively put alot of companies out of busines/OR give those business a major cost in upgrading equipment to effectively process hemp. It would run into the Billions and the government is just not prepared for it! Assholes.
Junk food eaten would rise.
Another item to sin tax.
Less folks getting agitated.
Less police tasering innocents.
What's not to like?
I don't think people would start using it who do not already.
I'm absolutely against legalization, but it would bring in some nice taxes.
Besides, the drug cartels will never let that happen. They'd loose billions.

You're reading Do you think the legalization of marijuana would be a good thing in regards to the fact that it would probably help everyone finally chill the F out?

Right. Healthcare for those junkies and drug dealers who don't have a real job or in any way make a positive contribution to society.

They have better access to health care right now than I do.

Pretty soon, we're all going to have the same crappy government healthcare.
by Hardcore Conservative on November 5th, 2009
I've been denied health care because my wife was filling out the forms and accidentally checked the wrong box and even without that I'm self employed and the premiums are too high anyway.

Complain all you want about government health care, it's better than nothing -which is what I'm stuck with.

Then you're not looking in the right places. It's available, you just have to find it.

I'd really prefer socialized medicine. My wife has tried: the magical affordable and useful health insurance just does not exist.

I don't want to be forced to pay for it.

I'm sure there will always be options to pay too much for insurance. I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.
