I think piercings, just like tattoos, are becoming mainstream. Elderly folk often don't understand it, middle aged people often are tolerant, and younger people are often not bothered. Unfortunately, I think it discloses an education level (not many doctors/marketing consultants/engineers have facial piercings). Because of your age, I wouldn't see that alone as a detriment- however, you are also a young mom. I'm sure you've encountered people passing judgement on that basis.
I think you need to just think it through. Personally, I view it as another strike against you for people to judge you based on, and not take you seriously. (Not that it's right, just realistic.) If that's not something that concerns you, then just make sure you find a clean parlor. :)
