For those that are, I'd imagine it might be partly because they're surrounded by and pursued by sleazy guys who are interested in them only for their looks. And because our sick society places such value on hotness.

I have seen some "hot" nice girls and some plain girls that were bitches. Unfortunately, the hot looking chicks attract the attention and sometimes you can get hooked before you discover what's under that glitter. Also, sometimes a girl's great looks get in the way of your seeing that she isn't what you really want in the first place. Better to focus on what you really want on the inside...and hope that you can find one who has an outside that matches. But it's what's inside that's going to really matter in the long run. Been there, done that. And lived to regret it.
