  • you need to get some professional training for the dog before tragedy strikes as he's "playing"
  • That puppy is going to end up in the pound or worse if you don't step up, be the pack leader and discipline him. I'm a great fan of How to be Your Dog's Best Friend by the Monks of New Skete. But if you know nothing about dog training, you might be better served by signing that pup up for training with a reputable dog trainer. Puppies are like children: they may have inborn personality traits but they aren't born knowing how to behave. It is up to you to train him. There are no bad puppies, just bad trainers. Everytime you are with that pup, you are training him: for better or for worse.
  • You need to let him know you are the top dog. His position in the pack is to be the most lesser member. Wack him on the nose Pretty hard and tell him go go lie down (outside the center of attention area) when he doesn't behave. Also read on how to train and take him to a good trainer if necessary. BTW is he completely housebroken?? At this age there should be few if any accidents.
  • A dog must learn bite inhibition. It is VERY important. Some tricks: yelp when he bites you, and ignore him for a minute. If he bites hard, you might want to put him in a separate room for 5 minutes (but not longer). Some people also use water spray as a deterrent: if he bites, give him a quick squirt. Don't punish him by hitting him or shouting. As others have said, the best idea is to go for a few weeks' puppy socialisation classes.
  • I have tried several of these tips like. removing him from the room, yelping, wack on the nose. I am worried that this is not normal puppy behaviour. Will this biting stop in time? He is mostly agressive with me. My partner says that he only carries on like this when I get home from work as he is in all day with him.
  • We have in the last few nights had him sleep in his own bed in the hall. He only does the toilet now when he sleeps out there as we used to have him sleep in our room in his own bed and he very rearly did the toilet. We have been trying to keep him off our bed and couch. He has been biting for a while but the past few weeks he has been more bity and agressive.
