I believe the phenomenon is called the "waterfall effect."
Only if the suicidal teenager had some one who loved him/her and caused them to commit suicide out of "broken heartedness", but other than that, it's not a mental contagious illness of any kind.
It's not that it's contagious, but the prevalence of it dehorrifies it. I makes the week feel that it's not so socially unacceptable.
I think that suicide, in itself, is contagious.
Once someone does it, and, people who have been thinking about it hear it, they're going to want to do it, themselves.
It's like an excuse. Someone else did it, so why can't I? The person who's thinking about it may even admire the person who did it for their 'bravery'.
Teens are most certainly a big target for that, I'd think, yes.
Only the weak minded ones I think the weakness is contagious because its so easy to make someone hurt emotionally
shure sounds like it +5
I won't say that suicide is contagious. My wife took her own life on 2000, and I have no desire to do so.
What does make me wonder is why it has become almost epidemic among teens. Some take their own lives over things that don'r truly matter. Your teen years should be amongst the happiest of your life.
