I have been in the NYC taxi industry 37 yrs., wrote my Ph.D. dissertation on it, trained taxicab drivers for 14 yrs., drove a taxicab for 10 yrs., and the drivers are still bad. Customers can now get rid of the bad drivers @ http://bit.ly/xuYX7G

Yes, the gut had to ask me to read the street directory afetr driving around for 20 minutes. (the trip was supposed to take 5 mins)
Anyway the whole time he kept the meter running and when I refused to pay, he got all upset.
I then told him I wanted his cab number and driver ID.
He gave me $20 back (from the $40 he charged me) and asked nicley not to report him. I didn't.

Yes, when I was teaching years ago, I was running a little late, so decided to take a taxi the short distance to the school. The only taxi at the stand was manned by a driver I had seen being very rude to people, but I had no choice. I oopened the door, and there was something wrong with it that made it jump and it hit the pole next to me- not hard, just a small bump_ but he started into me about making me pay etc- I just wanted to get to school and no other cab was there so I apologised and got in...he yelled at me all the way up the street until I could stand it no more and asked him to stop. I said he was so rude I had a good mind not to pay him, which he interpreted as I was going to skip, so he grabbed my arm, pressing into it so hard that it hurt. I threw money at him and he yelled that the note was too big. He was still holding my arm and his fingers were digging in. Finally I managed to get free and just ran all the way to school, crying. The school called the police, but he just said I refused to pay, which the police said they could charge me for...so I had to withdraw the complaint, despite my arm being bruised with his fingerprints all over it.

I was in one that rear ended a bus...the driver seemed more interested in what we were doing than watching the road
