Lolita. The American Beauty of it's time. Quite shocking and satirical for the late 50's, early 60's. A dirty old man gets turned on by his landlady's sexy slutty daughter.

Me too, it kept me from getting a good career and becoming successful. LOL.

It also made you very, very smart.

I will be happy to convince you otherwise. If I am smart it is because of trial and error. My life is not one other's would applaud, I'm sure. I spent a lot of years away from my daughter, trying to find myself. Very self-centered as a young woman, very lost and very prone to do irrepsonsible deeds. But thanks Phillis. Trust me you have the wisdom and the smarts I was looking for back then.

You remind me very much of what I was afraid I would become when I had children. I was terrified I would repeat the same mistakes my mother made. But when I see you, I don't feel judgemental. By virtue of being born, everybody has the right to grow (or not) at their own pace. I was able to forgive everyone's sins but my own. That is exactly why I married and had children so late in life.

Thanks Phillis. You and your kids are blessed. I am so very lucky I made some amends and my daughter is fine and with me now. She is a wonderful girl, no thanks to me. Her dad did most of the work and she did even more.

She still needs her mother, Hari. That will never go away. There will always be a tiny sliver of that little girl inside her who needs your love and approval.
