It depends on your ability to retain information over a long period of time.

Whenever I studied in school or at University, I would study for an hour, take a break, then hit the books again for an hour. My brain got too over-loaded when I'd try to cram an entire semester's worth of information into it in one sitting. Spacing your study out over a few days, or even weeks, is also ideal. Unless you're blessed with a photographic memory, leaving your study to 3 hours the night before the exam probably isn't the best method for success. Good luck.

Even if it is boring and useless info, just getting those study skills honed will be more then useful when you get to the college level. It took a long time before I was studying at the college level, because high school was such a breeze that even for finals I never really had to study.

If it's not a final or state exam, it's not worth it. When my daughter whose a sophmore gets all upset or anxious about a test, I tease her & say, OH, my God, your wedding day or the birth of your first child just won't be the same because you failed a meaningless test in high school.

Only if you manage to learn something.

Not if "studying" means turning on your computer and dicking around on answerbag.

Well, I suppose you could be asking/looking up relevant questions... But where's the fun in that?

Yes, three hours of studying with full concentration, no distractions, and without any day dreaming will be helpful.

i think that you really have to relax and take a break evry 30 min to an hour in the middle of your studying. you also have to consider as to where or what part of the topic that you are studying. for example if you have been sitting in there for an hour already and there is the last paragraph that you have to study to make your study meaningful, don't leave it. just get it over-with and then you can take a break then go on to the next set or chapter or topic.
