I do the usual male thing of continuing to watch the TV, not listening to a word said, but nodding & saying 'uhuh' every now & then.

I just drift off and zone out all that he is saying, ignore the fact that he is talking to me, and tell him I won't discuss it.

None of the above. If for some reason I don't want to deal with whatever it is just then, I'll ask her if we can talk about it some other time. We usually negotiate when that time will be. : )

I pretend to listen. Unfortunately, I am going to have to switch tactics because now he knows me well enough to tell when I am just daydreaming! *Guilty smile*

Sometimes I force myself to be interested in listen -- I know there's times I want to talk when she's not so interested. Other times I'll say "I don't really want to talk about this, is that okay?" Then she'll either say Ok or "just one second" and get the gist out quickly. She does the same to me sometimes.
