Help answer this question below.
Etiquette says 3 months salary. I can give you all kinds of advice on what I think of this but traditional etiquette says 3 months salary.
only what you can comfortably afford. There is no need to go drop a months pay on a ring.
One cannot put a price tag on the gift it is the thought which is most counted .
Only what you can afford.
The size has no relation to the size of your love for her.
alot, i mean a lot..
I don't think it is a matter of how much you pay for it, as much as it shows you know her preference in metal (Yellow gold, white gold, platinum, silver, etc.) and style (traditional, modern, etc.). I am sure whatever you pick out and pay she will love because it came from you. Also it is different if she is going shopping with you to pick it out, then I would say be realistic about your income and/or credit and tell her the limit. Your limit doesn't have to be based on love, but preparing for a good solid future. It would suck to spend a lot on a ring and then not be able to afford groceries and a place to stay when you do get married. Spending a lifetime together and loving her are more important than a ring. Thats just me though. :)
Normally it is about 25-30% of your yearly salary, if you have nay questions about the best cut, size ofthe diamond or the setting i found this great message board that will really help you!
Good luck
