My parents don't like my girlfriend because they don't feel she's good enough for me and she's not pretty enough for me. they also think that her parents are irresponsible for telling me i can stay over one night as long as my parents were ok with it.

Her parents saying it's ok if your parents say it's ok, sounds responsible to me. As far as not being pretty enough, that sounds pretty conceited. As long as she's not the trouble type, I can't see why you shouldn't be friends.

Her parents were being very responsible by encouraging you talk to your parents before staying over night at their house. Since you respected your family's wishes, you did nothing wrong. For better or worse, parents never think anyone is good enough for their son/daughter. I might be reading too much into the situation, but it's possible that your parents don't want to let you date (and possibly become sexually involved with someone), so they are using every available excuse to convince you to leave the relationship. I'm sure they mean well. But their comments about her looks were very immature and disrespectful. If they say anymore, just say, "I am happy with the way she looks." Then just try to ignore their criticisms if you can. You are a young adult now, and it's high time for you to be able to make decisions about your own life, including your dating partners.
