Catholicism and Baptist traditions are sub groups of Christianity. The Baptists fit into the sub group known as Protestants, ie churches that rejected the authority of the Roman Catholic Pope and RC church tradition, basing their faith solely on the teachings of the Holy Bible. Their distinctive feature is Believer's Baptism, ie adult baptism, rather than the child baptism followed by RCs and other Protestant churches such as Lutherans, Anglican/Episcopalian, Methodist and Presbyterian.
