Nope I sure didn't. He is now 13 and he does have a lock but if he thinks it is a way to keep mom out he has another thing coming. I'll take the door off the hinges and he won't have one. LOL He knows!!! +5

Hell no. I don't even like for my daughter to shut the door all the way...I let her do it, but she knows I'm very aware of her every move. It's not because I don't trust her, it's because I want her to know that it's gonna be a difficult task to sneak something by me.

That doesn't sound very smart to me. It would spell disaster if a child wants to experiment with chemicals or matches !! +5

When my grandsons were young, their mother would turn the latch sets around so she could lock them in the bed room.

All of our bedroom doors had the locks with the button in the door knob. I don't think I've ever seen a bedroom door without one of those locks on it.

I didn't let TEENAGERS have locks ON MY DOORS. I'm the PARENT, HOUSE OWNER, and MORTGAGE PAYER! That door is MINE, that ROOM is MINE, I JUST LET THEM USE THAT ROOM. IF I WANT THEM TO SLEEP ON THE COUCH... THEY WILL. ALSO, there is ONE COMPUTER and ONE GAME CONSOLE - BOTH IN THE COMMON LIVING ROOM.
So, that makes me a mean person huh? No, that makes me a PARENT who is CONCERNED about all the CRAP out there kids can and WILL get into. When they 'HAVE THEIR OWN PLACE' they can have all the locks they want.

No way. That room that they want to lock is mine. No locks in this house. The wife and I have unlimited access to ALL rooms of the house at all times.

Not small children. But I gave in when my daughters wanted locks when they became teenagers.

Some doors have locks built into the handle, but they can be easily opened from the outside in an emergency. Aside from that, I would not allow it.

Sure, your 14 year old daughter might bring boys to her room then lock the door then uhh uhh uhh uhh uhh... then you try to open the door then you see it is locked you can't open it then she finishes the uhh uhh uhh uhh uhh and then BOOM! She's pregnant.

Now, should we allow kids to have locks?
