  • I doubt it's because you're too old. It's probably an employers unwillingness to pay what you're worth. I'm not telling you to go to a broker for your loads, or if they even exist anymore. Plus you'll have to pay the broker a percentage for finding you work. Yeah, you have to be an owner operator. Good luck in your search.
  • You are never too old. Old is like 80 or 90 years old. You aren't old. With your skills, you could easily get a job in a town the size of Abilene. Try several ways: 1. Put an ad in the paper making yourself known as a driver and tell what kind of skills you have had. 2. Read the newspaper want ads. They usually have references to people needing jobs with phone numbers. 3. Go to a business where there are truck drivers, like the truck stop and inquire there. 4. There may be some government run businesses where you can make applications and they will find a job for you. Go to the courthouse and inquire of such a place.
