  • There are lots of cordless vacuums out there. Google it sometime! Dirt Cevil has a cordless upright. There's the Shark VX3 Electrolux has a cordless stick vacuum. Then there's the Roomba, by iRobot. And then there are central vacuum systems installed in houses, where a central vacuum system is installed and you connect the hose fitting into a convenient vacuum receptcal in whatever room you're cleaning.
  • You might have to wear a battery back-pack if you want them to work very well. : )
  • The Dirt Devil 12V Hand Held Vacuum Red and Silver, Simply place it back on its wall mounted recharging stand when not in use.
  • I predict that within the next five years wires will become a thing of the past.
  • Good question I agree. I know people that have Central vacuuming systems but you still have to move the cables around. LOL We should have Robots to vacuum for us. I do not mean like the current Robot vacuum it bumps into things.
  • They exist but they are gutless (or suctionless). +5
  • They make them but they're not worth a crap. The problem is making a battery with enough power density to run a high power motor and light enough to carry around. Also the higher voltage at which a motor is run, the smaller the motor. For example a 1 hp. 90 VDC motor is almost twice as heavy as a 1 hp. 220 VAC motor. You can probably get the weight down on the battery and motor but with costs increasing in orders of magnitude. Parts for consumer equipment are always as cheap as possible.
  • There are cordless vacuums. I do not know how effective they are.
  • There are the small vacuum only dust buster types.. but for an efficient vacuum cleaner You need the Power of 230V AC at the moment.. the engine really needs to rev and battery power cannot do that at the present time.. For an efficient cleaner it also needs brushes to rotate and move the carpet so it can be cleaned by the vacuum. I have a small Pirhana hand held vacuum I use for cleaning the car and after about 3 minutes.. the engine is too hot to touch.. so the engines really need to rev at very high revs... I always replace the cords on My appliances with 5 metre ones.. so I have no problems with the cord..lol cheers Lee
  • They have stand up vacuum cleaners that run on batterys but have nowhere near the suction of a electric powered cleaner we all know and use
