    Doen't bother me at all. I have 2 kids & a dog. We refer to ourselves as mommy & daddy to all 3.

    I don't think anything of it. If they like to do that, it's cute for them. Most, if not all of them know they aren't the physical parent of that pet, but they feel like it's part of the family so in essence they are. Pets do get adopted into a family after all.
