Does taking 2 hydrocodone instead of 1 help more with pain or is the 2nd just a waste of medicine?

I've found that when I have serious pain taking more than the recommended dose of any pain medication helps me. Especially hydrcodone. No taking two instead of one is not a waste unless you have built up a resistance to them and need more to control your pain.
