Excellent question Suby. I don't know how to really answer it. My guess is that our limitations/strengths are what may cause us to "miss out". I, for example, am very risk-averse. I like to know what I can count on. I would never ever take a job as a salesperson working on commission. The potential rewards can be great but I am more comfortable working a job with a specific paycheck I can count on receiving at a specific time. Might I have had a great deal of financial success had I made other choices? I don't know. But you cannot change who you are and as such you are stuck with the consequences of your actions or inaction! :)

What I have been doing all along is to keep a constant watch out for opportunities. All the opportunities that come to my notice may not be of immediate use to me but I could always suggest them to others who could make use of them.
Being on the alert is my secret, Rosie.
Thanks for your answer. +6.

Rosie, I think you are spot-on with your guess, and, yes, Suby, I think being alert is part of the secret. Or at least, awareness is the first step, followed by decisions and corrections. Simply chasing all alternatives can very well result in confusion that won't get us anywhere. -I've got some experience with confusion ;), and, no, I don't make much money - but I enjoy what I'm doing :)

You're welcome Suby. I am not like you my friend. I am not on "a constant watch...for opportunities". To me, that means you are not happy, content, satisfied...that you want more. I don't need more. I'm very happy as I am. As I said, that may well be one of my weaknesses but it is who I am my friend. Happy Tuesday! :)

Rosie: The constant watch helps not just us but any of the youngsters who come to us for advise. Most of what I watch is of not of any use to me personally but I have been in a position to give positive suggestions to the young which have made them manage to get well settled in life. Awareness of what is happening around is important, in my opinion.
Happy Tuesday, Rosie and Dendrina.

Thank you Suby. Being on "constant watch" would be impossible because I focus intently on whatever I do and I cannot simultaneously be on "constant watch" and also "intently focused". Perhaps it is simply a matter of degree Suby or semantics.
