  • I believe the dates are approximate, and calculated from the content of scriptures and referenced events. And 3 years in 600 is a 0.5% difference, which I think constitutes a pretty good approximation.
  • Our current BC / AD eras are based on an guestimation of the year of Jesus' birth. it would be more correct to speak in terms of the Common Era. Lehi left Jerusalem 600 years before the birth of Christ. Note that as a Israelite, Lehi probably followed the Jewish calendar in determining the passing of years (the Jewish year is shorter than Gregorian years). It is estimated (using the Babylonian Chronicles) that Nebuchadnezzar captured Jerusalem in the Gregorian year 597 BCE and instated Mattanyahu (Zedekiah) as King of Judah.
