depends on how realistic the game is, and what the map's like. No matter how good you are, it's always good to wait for an easier shot as long as you know that one is coming. If you get to be good enough, you can time shots better. If you're not very good, then it might be better to pick it up for a short time just for one important shot (e.g. in capture the flag) and give it up afterwards.

I don't know if this works, but if they're not looking at you(when moving), you can do an "On purpose fail shot" to get their attention, don't hit THEM,unless your sure of your shot hitting that tango, hit like the ground around them or something. Thats if your in a good hiding position, and I think they will stand still for like seconds to observe where the shot came from because people love kills! If he/she doesn't find you, you can take your shot if you wish. But remember, take some time too, the enemy will never know they're on your scope, unless they find you, then that'll suck lol.

You're reading When playing any first person shooter video game as a sniper, should you take a shot at a moving target or wait for them to take cover and pop their head out to shoot at you? Because I'm having a really hard time hitting them while their moving.

Sorry, I should have said what game this was, it's Borderlands. I'm trying to go through the game in single player as Mordecai (the sniper character).

Borderlands is cool, but it's not a great game for those who like sniping. I was lilith, it's so easy just to pump led into your enemies with an SMG then turn invisible and run away when you're surrounded
