most piercers use stainless steel jewelry when they do a piercing. you can tell them beforehand that you are allergic to nickel & they will be able to tell you whether they have the right jewelry or not.

Titanium is nickel free, better for most people, and comes in pretty colors. It's lighter than steel too, which most piercings like. Usually it will only be slightly more expensive than steel. Niobium is also good for sensitive piercings, but is much heavier than steel, and may be expensive and hard to find. But very high quality implant grade steel may work for you as well. Most brand name steel jewelry will be LVM. 316L is very high grade and will have minimal nickel, but 316LVM has been through a process to draw all the nickel into the center of the metal, away from your skin, so it's the least likely to cause reaction. Also, ptfe (teflon) can be used in new piercings, and is slightly flexible. For a larger than average size piercing, glass would be a good choice.
