I do this a lot of times. What I do is have whoever I'm sending something, send something to email from their mobile phone. That gives me the contact, it' usually their phone number @ their carrier. For example 1234567890@vtext.com.

AIM can send an SMS to cellphones if an AIM user has set their account to fwd messages to cell. Skype also has the capability and I'm quite sure there are many others

You can easily do it with Yahoo messenger or Twitter. If you don't have those programs, go to your Cell Providers website and find your phones email address. Its usually yourphonenumber@vtext.com And just email your phone. An easier way is to Add a Contact in your addressbook of your phone. Put in your email address. Send a msg with your phone to that email address. When you receive it on your computer. Just hit reply, and you will see the email address of your phone.
