  • I am going to one in a week as a cannibal - Should be fun hehe got to make a severed arm. I am a sadistic person so... it will be fun!
  • Yup, every day I go to work, a bunch of people in fancy suits and dresses lounging around all day
  • unfortunatley in Beverley Hills for thanksgiving... it was soooo boring...
  • i went to my own wedding reception, does that count?
  • As in swanky dress clothes? Yes. They're not much fun - a lot of asshole yuppies putting on a facade, trying to impress everyone with their money and pseudo-intellectuality, and, depending on the occasion, pretending that they know anything about art. Ugh.
  • I go to a ball every year that's white-tie and tails.
  • yes one of my x boyfriends was a computer programer for a lot of top companys around here and was constantly taking me to fancy dinner partys to meet new clients.
  • Yes, I went as Patsy Cline
  • Does Full-dress Navy Blues ("Cracker Jacks") count?
  • I have been to a few in the past. Enough so I own my own tuxedo. These days, with kids age four and six, a fancy party usually means Chuck-e-Cheese or Scalliwags instead of at the birthday boy/girl's house.
  • Yeah, I was forced to go to my grandmother's friends daughters graduation parties when I was 6. I was so bored, and I had to wear a dress, it wasn't fun. It was the first time I tried a boiled muscle(shellfish), that wasn't even fun to eat!
  • Yes a military ball. Lots of fun. The military guys know how to have a great party.
  • Yes I have, lots of them. When I was a hairstylist we were always going to fancy dress parities because it was an excuse to do our hair up in fancy ways.
  • Yes -The Police Ball
  • Yeah, enough that I had to go and buy two dresses. A turquiose one (to be different) and a little black dress. They both have served me well. I hve a record release party to go to for my friend's 4th Cd I think? So now my problem is trying to figure out which one to wear.
  • Of course!
  • yes. the funny thing is, i was always given the award- 'The Best Clown Imitation' but i was wearing normal clothes. i never understood that ;-)
  • No. I can't even remember the last time I wore a dress. My dress is baby slobber and peas when my baby sneezes while I am feeding her.
  • I've noticed a misunderstanding on this page, some people seem to understand "fancy dress" as costumes (ie clown), and others as nice clothing (ie little black dress)... Does it have a different meaning in the States than Europe? I understand it as costumes... Yes, the last one I went to had a red or dead theme... I went as a heroin overdose and sent my husband as Jesus... He won :)
  • Work related.
  • Several, and I had fun with the "glamorous" dress-up because when I was working I lived in tailored suits. One was a hookers and pimps party and I got a red velvet showgirl costume with long gloves and a tall feather headdress and black fishnet stockings. My date went as a Mississippi river-boat gambler. Another time I got an 18th-century gown and paraded around as Lady Hamilton, Lord Nelson's mistress. Another time (as my age advanced but my body held up pretty well) I got a southern-belle hoop-skirt peach-colored gown and went as a "Georgia Peach Preserve." I had my hair stylist fix up some fake hair so I had a cascade of long curls. Those parties were a LOT of fun.
  • Yes I love them. I would go once a week if I could.
