How can I hook up my T.V. as an external monitor?My laptop has HDMI,&VGA and my T.V. has Component,Composite,and S video?

There's something called an s-video to hdmi converter that might work:

I can't get my tv to work as a monitor. the tv has a vga input , the pc has a dvi. so i've used an adapter in the dvi and a vga cable to connect to tv.. it worked on my old man's pc, vga to vga help!!!!
