the guy who wrote the living bible did it on the subway going to work and back to home. I found a freshness in the vocabulary. I believed I had a relationship with The Holy Spirit via the Living Bible. I felt like I understood what I was reading. Many said it was not a translation. So I was not to put much stock in the way it was written. There were errors. I believe The New Living Bible became a translation and have had the errors fixed. The Amplified Bible is another good to read Translation, as is The Tyndale, Good News Bible, or Today's Modern English Edition. No one can say they didnt have opportunity to read the Bible.
Back in my young days The Living Bible was published under the name of The Way. It was written in plain English of the time. Many young readers were unfamiliar and intimidated with the older English of King James, even though simple training in the use of the archaic thou, thee, thy, and thine would have gone a long way. People young and old considered the bible for pleasure or leisure reading for the first time.
There was nothing new about translating the writings of the bible and suiting it for a certain vernacular. Many languages, including Russian, had no written form until one was developed for the bible. Christian advocates and missionaries, even if ethnocentric and obnoxious at times, have been relatively inclusive for reaching out to other cultures.

God's Word is not a dead entity, but remains eternal like Him. The living Bible is trying to illustrate that God's word is alive and well even in a society that is trying to kill it.

Christians, does the Great Commission (Matt 28:18-20) still apply and still matter today? This is a follow up of my first question.
