  • Most modern physicists support the idea that the universe was created in an instant. It was fiercely debated until just recently. Your Rome argument makes no sense. The universe wasn't fashioned into what we know of it today in an instant. It was created, and then took about 15 billion years to expand and re-arrange its matter. Similarly, the "matter" (stones, bricks...etc) used to create Rome existed already at the moment before Rome began being built. That matter ALSO had to be re-arranged. ...and the discovery of the evolutionary process has no bearing on how long it existed. Just because we didn't know about something ages ago does not mean that it didn't exist at that time. I'm not quite sure what evolutionary theory has to do with the argument anyway.
