  • Good question, yohoho05. This needs pondering and considering one at a time - War on poverty, never ending, still absolutely masses to do there. War on drugs, the situation is bound to be worse that we know, so that is going to continue for many years. Now, Iraq, I think that should finish sooner as the Americans will either annihilate all of the terrorists eventually, or get out of there and consider the war 'over' as they are not there anymore. Thus poverty should last longer I hope this is a satisfying answer, good day, Andyman.
  • They've all been a pretty dismal effort, haven't they. I daresay the current Iraq war will be resolved eventually because it is localised in relation to the rest of the world. Drugs and Poverty are global problems and I doubt all the countries are capable of working together effectively to overcome them.
  • The War on Poverty can't be won until we stop the War on Drugs. I can see the Iraq War ending far before these others.
  • The war in Iraq. The other two will never be won.
  • The war on poverty, while never ended poverty still lifted millions out of poverty and did change the lives of multitudes forever. War on drugs only brought misery and nothing more. Iraq, still bringing death and misery. Verdict still out. It's still ongoing.
  • the war in iraq can atleast be won war on poverty cant be won and as long as weed can grow naturally, the war on drugs can not be won
  • The War on Iraq is winnable. If anything else by declaring victory and moving on. The War on Drugs will only be won when there aren't anymore humans. And poverty will stop being lost when we use other analogies other than "war".
  • The problem with war as it is currently carried out, is that there are no clear objectives. I will do my best to try and describe what I think the objectives are for each war and what I think about them. . Iraq War: I think the objective is to have more of a presence in the area as well as to secure oil fields for corporate interests. I think both are possible. However, it would not be a surprise to see the Iraqis demand the corporate interests or the military presence out once they are established. I'm thinking about Iran's ability to kick us out of our own embassy and Bechtel being kicked out of, I believe it was, Columbia. . War on Drugs: I think this war's objective is to provide corporate interests with more profit. Some believe the objective is to rid the country of drugs, but if that was the case we wouldn't allow prescription drugs or caffeine. It's not a matter of health considering more people die per year from alcohol, tobacco, OR prescription drugs than pot AND cocaine combined. (Pot's about 0 people per year, and coke is about 10,000 people per year, where prescription drugs alone kill about 100,000 people a year. All from direct use.) So what corporations want is to get you to buy their product instead of say pot. Even though pot may be less riskier to your health and you can grow it in your yard. It's all about the benjamin's baby. . War on Poverty: This objective, though I'm not certain at all, is to end poverty. Considering the fact that we don't have enough money to do the important things such as providing health care to all, how can we ever possibly have enough money to end poverty? One possible way is to abolish the monetary system. Less than half the population is employed anyway and we're not getting out of debt any time soon. Technology is continuously replacing manual labor and by abolishing the monetary system we could eliminate all related jobs such as accountant, stock broker and banker, and get people to focus on socially responsible jobs that help provide everyone with the basic facilities to survive. . I think the Iraq war is the one that is in the short term the one most likely to be successful. However, a radical viewpoint change is necessary to recognize that the other 2 wars are impossible to win without being considered "anti-American." It's easy as hell to convince people of how problematic the monetary system is, but hard as hell to convince them that we should change it. Once I figure out how to make that part easier, we should be able to end the war on poverty and drugs. +3
