One reason is so you can paint the rooms whatever YOU wish, Plant flowers, bushes, shrubs that YOU wish , put up a fence that YOU want , have your guest/family stay as long as YOU want ,Maybe have that dog or cat that the Landlord says you can't have etc ... sometimes a LOT cheaper than paying rent to someone else every month .... +5

One reason I like: When you rent your landlord may sell the house and maybe you may have to move to another location. You never have roots anywhere. It feels like you are temporarily hanging there....even if you have been living there for many, many years. When you buy a home you finally feel like a "I made it"! kind of feeling. You will say "I am a homeowner" ...even if you only have a mortgage that you may carry to your grave....But you will be there and do whatever you want to do to YOUR HOUSE!
