If it was hitchhiking, I'd pick it up and give it a ride.

Pick it up and move it to the side. If its weak, I might take care of it until its better and release it back to the wild.

Depends on what I'm doing on the rod, what the animal is doing, what animal it is first of all, lots of things. Most cases, I just ignore it and carry on my way. We see lots of them on roads here.

    Tel UK- Licensed to fish!

Funny you should askn that Keith. A few weeks ago I was driving into the village early on a Sunday morning, going fishing, when I spotted a sheep on the main road ,whilst I was passing the farm I called in to tell them. I pulled ,typical farm yard ,Range Rover and X5 on the drive, rang the bell this was answered by the farmers wife, who I had seen in he village on occassions a young woman mid 30's Whow! she was dresed in twin set pyjamas and open negligee. Gobsmacked I almost forgot what I was there for. Anyway I told her about the sheep and she said "What did it look like" naturally my reply, laughing, was "A sheep " she said "Did it have a black face" I replied "Yes" she said "Oh thats one of my neighbours,I'll phone them" Returning to the village around 10 hours later, low and behold the black facd sheep was still on the main road, what can you say.

"If it can be safely done, avoid coming in contact with it." e.g. One of my school teachers had a friend that drove off a cliff to avoid hitting an animal.

It would depend on what kind of animals. I would try what I can to avoid the, especially human ones. On the other hand, I had to consider the lives of the people in my car, myself included, and other people on the road.

For most of them, especially insects, it is too late, and I kill them with the windshield of my car. I have to live with this.
