You can re-sell an actual book that you purchased elsewhere, but you can't sell the content without it being in that book. ie you can't copy the text and re-publish it.

I would say that as long as you didn't steal the books, then of course it's OK to sell them. People re-sell things they have purchased all the time.

Why is not legal to resell property that you have already legally purchased in the past? Ever hear of eBay?
