Pop a Benadryl, that's what I do when I can't get to sleep.
Hard physical labor, or an intense workout in the evening. When you go to bed, consciously relax the small muscles around your eyes. Then visualize your body beginning to turn to stone, starting with your feet. Think of them as getting so heavy that a friend who tries to lift one of your legs cannot do so. Imagine your legs turning to stone, as it slowly works its way up your body. I can virtually guarantee that before you reach your neck, you will be asleep.
Do something calm and-or boring.
turn off lights
sleep downstairs (or upstairs) because warm air rises
turn away clocks/ alarms
shut off electronics
shut your eyes
loosen muscles
use a pillow
get comfortable
try not to fall asleep
turn off all sounds (unless they help you)
I blacken my windows to make it Pitch dark in my room
Sex with the wife
