If someone opened a account today, no questions, no answers - but sent you a friends request - would it be unfair to assume they're a sock?

    That would definitely be my first thought, second thought would be an old friend with a new account.

    Not necessarily. A sock puppet is someone who has more than one account for the purpose of levelling up by pointing themselves with the other accounts. I dunno why they would send a friend invite with the other accout but you can always wait a few days and check the activity and decide later.

    No , you cannot assume they are Sockpuppets because lots of new users send out a lot of Friends requests to all the people on the leaderboards. I used to get dozens of requests from very new users.
