Question

Help answer this question below.

I get it now. When a democrat is in office, 'it happened on his watch.' When a republican is in office, it STILL happened on the democrat's watch. Has any republican ever made so much as a little boo-boo?

I am a registered Independent. Bush agreed with a lot of things that I didn't. However, I don't believe the mistakes he made are solely to blame for our current economic crisis. Obama hasn't had enough time to effect any great changes, but I find it unlikely that in his four year term (I doubt he will be re-elected because of the fickleness of the general American public) he will effect any significant economic changes.

We all make mistakes, and the biggest political mistake in America in my eyes, is the two-party system. I have noticed though, that republicans are less likely to "fess up" when their discretions are brought to public light. +2

That depends upon who you ask. I certainly think that Republicans have made more than their fair share of mistakes.

I'm not a Reagan worshiper. I remember where Reagonomics lead. I remember the Reagan Doctrine. Certainly it led to the fall of the Soviet Union, but we are still dealing with the aftermath. I remember all the unofficial "wars" in Latin America. I remember our involvement in the Iraq/Iran war, and how we profited from selling arms to each side. We've had to clean up after one of those dictators twice now (although I think both wars were optional as far as US security is concerned), and we are still dealing with the other. While our covert support of the mujahideen in Afghanistan began under Carter, Reagan continued it to a disastrous end. He sent Paramilitary Officers to Afghanistan to fund, train, and equip the mjuahideen. We funded and trained Osama Bin Laden. We built Tora Bora. After the Soviets left, we left that country in its state - decimated by the ongoing war - and to the mercy of various warlord factions which culminated in the Taliban. These mujahideen are mostly known to us now as Al Qaeda, the Taliban, and other Islamic militant groups.

Both sides are guilty of playing the blame game. No politician will ever admit that he/she could've done anything differently to mitigate the problem. C'est la vie.

Hey, Im a card carrying liberal, but even I recognize that both sides are equally guilty of playing that game. Dems, Republicans, liberals, and Conservatives. We all like to take credit for everything good thats going on and blame the other guy for the mess we're in. Yay Politics!

What? have you not listened to one word Obama has said? In every speech he spends most of it blaming everything on the past administration, when he isn't apologizing for how terrible America is.

    You gain wisdom grasshopper.

Of course not, they're all pure as driven snow.

Even when they hold the majority of the House and Senate, a stranglehold on the Judiciary, and the White House- it's ALWAYS a democrats fault. If there was just one Dem in Congress it'd be all his fault too.

That's not to say that they don't make mistakes, which they do.

But when you set yourselves up to be "perfect" like so many Republicans like to, you've got a lot farther to fall, from grace.

I don't get it. Bush was a complete failure but I have never heard any administration put the blame on a previous administration like the Obama administration has. They are the poster child for placing blame and not taking responsibility. If the job is too much for poor Obama I am sorry but he promised hope and change. Not whining and finger pointing. If your not up to the job don't make promises you can't keep and above all be a man and take responsibility. Something our current president seems incapable of.

You need to come out of your love spell when President Obama is speaking and see that he is doing exactly what you are talking about.

They way I see the whole mess from an insiders viewpoint, Bill Clinton & Greenspan opened the door with the bailout of LTCM and then furthered the mess when he led the foolish charge of "owning a home is a right". Bush didnt do anything to correct that, so he is equally responsible.

In simple terms, Clinton opened that locked door that never should have been opened and Bush brought in the beer and strippers. Obama wants to bring the police in to arrest everyone but the people that stole all the loot left a long time ago, so instead of sending Dog the Bounty Hunter after them because its too much trouble, he will just arrest those that are passed out in the corner. Our government in a hillbilly nutshell.

That seems to be accurate. Also, when a Republican is in office, they do whatever they want because of it. And when a Democrat is in office, they still do whatever they want because of it. No matter who's in office, it's always the Republicans who are in charge.
