  • If it was for a very low position, like mail room or delivery, I might - this shows honesty. For anything higher, I wouldn't - this shows that the person not only does not understand which communications are appropriate and when, but that they did not prepare properly for the interview.
  • most likely no if it was a very low paying position, and I knew this person was trying to get back kinto society, I might
  • If I'm running a buffet restaurant, no. The applicant will eat me out into bankruptcy.
  • No - that won't be a valuable member for my company. Not because he asks for something to eat but because what he is asking shows that he don't know how to behave in social situations and lets his ego rule him - if there is a fire in the company that would be the first man to run away to save his life and leave burning ruins behind, hoping someone other will take care of it.
  • no, I wouldn't hire someone who can't take care of himself...Besides, he has the cheek to ask! +5
  • No. I would not.
  • I wouldn't .. it would show me they have no self-control, for one thing.
  • Nope. It would just tell me that they have absolutely no common sense (and possibly mildly retarded) and I need people working for me that are smart, able to make decisions, and who I can trust to be able to handle their duties.
  • I wouldn't rush to judgement of them. It could be that they are diabetic and having a low blood sugar episode. People say and do strange things when this is the case and wouldn't have a clue that their bluntness was potentially offensive. All they can concentrate on is "I need food now". Secondly, if they were obviously very down on their luck and hungry in a way few of us, luckily, will ever know I'd finish the interview over lunch. If they were the best qualified for the job, I'd hire them.
  • They were probably trying to be funny.
  • If it's for one of those jobs where an interview takes hours, just for them to call you back for a follow up interview, just to maybe come back for another interview and trying to land this job turns into a part-time job itself, it may not be an unreasonable request. Four hours is a long time to go without a snack, and a long time to expect someone not to have a snack. Really, it could be considered rude of the interviewer to keep you long enough for you to get hungry.
  • No. It's bad manners and inappropriate, and shows that they have no sense of normal boundaries.
  • I would hire them based on their interview results. If they're hungry, they're hungry. I guess if you're suggesting that they cannot afford to eat then that's a bonus cuz I'm sure they'll want to work! +5pts. =)
