You're reading As an English learner, how do I change my `language mode' when I feel hard to speak or write in English? I usually feel easier to speak or write in English at night.

There is something specific that I want to achieve: I would like to know I can `bootstrap' into `English mode' before an examination.

Jetcheng Chu: thank you for the clarification.
Because you will probably not be able to choose the time of day for your examination, it would make sense to modify your daily rythm so that you get a period of best performance at the time of the examination.
For instance, you could try waking up earlier and going earlier to sleep.
