What's changed? The government has always been in that business - deciding what material should be shown on TV and at what times, harassing people who do not agree with the government (McCarthy era), etc? By comparison, offering a health service that covers everyone irrespective of "pre-existing conditions" is a breath of fresh air.

We are not turning into commies! Obama is liberal, yes, and he is expanding the government, its what the dems do but all of this Socialism talk is getting really old. There is no way that our country could go from capitalist to communist in one presidential term. The government is in a bit of a no-win situation and regardless of what the president does in the next few years there is going to be a lot of push back from the opposition. I only hope that all of this silly fear mongering name calling will cease and the opposition will start to use legitimate, logic, fact based arguments to present their points.

It's a stretch of logic to compare a health care plan with the former Soviet Union. That kind of hyperbole dumbs down the conversation and saps credibility from the critics of the plan. Better to stick with more supportable positions.

And it won't stop there! They are already starting to destroy the free market with their so-called "pollution" and "usury" laws. Next thing you know those commies in the White House will start trying to compete with Fedex and UPS! And if they ever try to take my hard-earned money to pay for other peoples public education, then this country is definitely headed into the crapper!
