How many months after getting your permit/finishing driver's Ed do you have to wait to get a license if you're already 16?

    Where I live, if you've passed the driving lessons, you have to wait something like 8 months from when you get the learner's permit (called a GI where I live) before you can test for the next level (called a G2; a full license is a G). If you don't take the lessons you have to wait a year.

    But driving licensing is covered by state law so unless you live in Ontario, Canada, the rules will be different for you. Likely the information is very easily discovered online: just google "[state/province/territory name] driving license."

    It varies State to State. Read the back of your permit.
