    Almost certainly yes. The Hebrews would have picked it up from the Egyptians, who had well-developed brewing technology. +5

    Yes. Judaism has no prohibitions on alcohol, and wine is central to many of its most cherished rituals (such as Seder). The production of beer was well known in the area at the time, and it was quite common.
