  • Your mom will know you're lying no matter what you say to her, mom's have, sort of an esp for that kind of stuff, she can tell when her kid is lying. If you do lie and you get caught, you'll be in even more trouble than you were to begin with, so I would just straight out tell her the truth, that's always best.

    G'day ashleeeeeee,

    Thank you for your question.

If I was you, I would tell her the truth. The next parent-teacher night your teacher will tell her that you haven't been doing your homework.

While she will get mad at you, she will get madder at you when she finds out that you haven't been telling the truth.

You will have to work on improving your study techniques even if it means reducing your time on the computer or other impacts on your life.

    Regards

You are already caught. You're mother is not an idiot, she will figure it out on her own. The best thing you can do is to apologize and do better. You'll have to suffer the consequences of your actions, but trying to get out of it will only make matters worse. As it is, you already have and F and you will still have to learn what you didn't learn in the first place.

    This always works...

Tell them you've been feeling depressed. And you have difficulty concentrating.

    Tell the truth...

My Mother could read my mind from half a mile away.

Minute I'd hit the door she'd say "No, that's not right. Tell me the truth!"

    Ouch....

Well I don't think there is much you can do about it now. You're just going to have to suck it up and tell your mom what happened. She is going to find out one way or the other since it doesn't sound like she is going to drop the matter.

Buckle down next quarter and just do your homework. If you do it as soon as you get home from school, you won't procrastinate and will have time to do stuff you like in the evening.

Your only hope is to grab some small victory here by being truthful and not allowing your Mom to be embarassed by calling your teacher to hear that you lied.

You definitely lose a lot of trust via that method. But may gain respect if you tell her the truth.

Why don't you both talk to the teacher about how to get better grades? This is the solution, not avoiding the reality of your actions.

Take it with grace and composure, no complaining.
Both teacher and Mom will be impressed.

As has been advised elsewhere.........if you don't want to get caught lying - then DON'T lie. That's the problem with lying; you always need to lie even more, to cover up the original lie. The truth can be difficult; but in the long run, it's so totally worth it.

I have a daughter who, from a very young age, has lied to me numerous times.......and either I have been aware that she was lying at the time; or she confessed to it ages later. The problem becomes, that as a parent, you are not so willing to believe what your child says/swears to ......etc; when they have shown themselves to be quite capable of lying to get out of trouble, or whatever. The additional issue is that if "someone" did it, and they lie about it not being them; then who ends up being blamed for "it"?

If you have a reputation for being honest; at least it is a lot easier to get people to believe you.........Very important.

"i dont want to be caught lying"
Then don't do it. You got an "F"...get over it. Life gets harder than that. Even harder though if you keep failing. High school really isn't very hard. I screwed around on the computer a lot and only made one "F" the entire time. You just have to do it or you'll possibly face doing it twice.

The best way to not get caught lying is to tell the truth. You will find that lying gets you into more trouble than honesty. Also, lying usually leads to more lies and more trouble. Your situation is proof of that; you lied by omission if you did not tell your mother that you did not do your homework or you lied to her directly if you told her that you did your homework but you did not do it and now you have an F which makes you want to lie again.

The best thing you can do for yourself is to stop lying, start doing your homework, and study hard.
