Since you are using an active crossover, you can control the volume of each frequency band quite easily. I have found the most effective way to make these adjustments is to measure the speaker output using a spectrum analyzer and adjust the gain at the crossover to suit both the measurement results and my ear.
I use TrueRTA spectrum analyzer software from True Audio, with an IBF Akustik MP-1r microphone / preamp and an M-Audio Audiophile 2496 audio card (24-bit, 96 kHz). There are other less expensive microphones available that are adequate for home measurements, such as the Behringer ECM-8000. TrueRTA has a built-in pink noise generator, so no external noise generator is required.
The speaker should be set up in the location and manner in which it is to be used or a reasonable facsimile of the installation. I make both 1/3- and 1/12-octave band measurements of the speaker. The 1/3-octave measurements are probably the most useful for determining relative volume levels, while the 1/12-octave measurements are more useful for observing the interactions between the speaker and the room and for tuning the speaker enclosure. These spectra will get you relatively close to the target setup and the final adjustments are then made by ear. Always make a final set of measurements when you are done adjusting the speaker.
