Help answer this question below.
I would put focus on the different ways of donating, time, money, food/clothing items, etc... I also suggest that you do all three if you have time before the essay is due so that you can give personal gut reaction to your experience.
You should also go to a place like the Salvation Army & interview someone who works there about the importance of their volunteers.
I can tell you that donating money has never really felt rewarding to me. Donating food items & personally taking them to the food bank always feels good. However, every time I have donated my time, I leave knowing I made a difference. I have done everything from organizing books to cleaning nurseries to serving in a soup kitchen.
I would start with a personal story - decide what sort of charity you want to write about and then start your essay with the story of someone who they would help.
Then a few paragraphs on how your chosen charity would be able to help the person in the story - what the charity delivers and how, where and maybe the view of someone who works or volunteers to help the charity.
Go back to your first person and give a description of how they got in contact with the charity - how they were helped and maybe they themselves now volunteer; so donating their time and understanding of the situation.....a donation doesn't just have to be money!
I would emphasize if the charity receives no government support or performs a service not available elsewhere. A case study of an individual helped by the charity would be useful. +5
Try to put yourself in the shoes of the homeless person, that has no one to help them but the charity. You will see the benefits from their eyes.
I am writing a formal personal response on a poem. My teacher told us not to use words like: I, and you
What are other words I could use?
