Depends on where you live and your lifestyle.
I was told that I would need at least a million 12 years ago. Where I live, that wouldn't be enough.
It all depends on your style of living. One can survive solely on their SS if need be.
Without a doubt; if not more. The cost of living keeps going up and the American dollar is going down.
If being a military Veteran won't, then nothing will.
That partly depends on at what age one retires.
I'd say that one would need that to retire in their 50's.
200,000 will do
I hope not! That rules out retirement for me. I will have to "die in the harness", as my grandad used to say.
We just about need it now.
Probably :P

That's what the fear-monger 'money lenders' want us to believe (and even proselytize!), keithold.
;-)
Probably but we will all need to know how to feed ourselves off the land also, money may not be worth the paper it's printed on by then. Best to prepare for whatever comes our way.
How much money will I need to retire at 55?

What do you think is the best retirement age?
If you could afford to retire or semiretire at 35, would you?
Or even change your lifestyle?

Retirement is a time to retire and have no financial worries. Do you know anyone who retired and HAD to get another job just to pay bills and eat?
