You havnt given enough information. I have to assume then the suspect is and was available and so is the print if that is the case, 5 five year old could do it in a blink. Or theres other evidence in a database or archives in some other form. The thing with prints is they need an owner, and there is always ways of cross matching evidence. Also there is always other evidence besides prints.
