Help answer this question below.
That depends. Murderers and muggers and rapists, no.
But most other people, the laws these days are way too strict and severe.
And people who are completely innocent, who are in jail for political "crimes" like drugs, prostitution, gambling, etc., I do feel bad for.
I.e., don't ever ask me to be on a jury! I believe in freedom and justice!
Only one because I know the life experiences that led him there.
Some.
There was a case of a young man who after years of abuse on himself, his mother and sister at the hands of his grandfather finally snapped and killed him. A whole town knew what the grandfather was doing and nobody, no officials, nobody stopped it.
Then because the sentencing options weren't correctly explained to the jurors they thought they had no other options than a life sentence.
So that boy sits in prison for the rest of his life for putting a mad dog down. A mad dog that countless adults chose not to confront and deal with.
I feel sorry for him and for his sister who was devastated at the price her brother paid for her freedom from abuse.
Only if they're wrongly convicted, or given a sentence that's too harsh for the crime.
The worst is going to jail for something trivial and then not being able to travel or attain a job as easily/at all anymore.
Yes,, mine are allways getting out !! but don't worry there's no danger ! apart from the STAMPEED,,,,hehe
I feel sorry for them right up until the point where they commit the crime that makes them a prisoner. I've worked in a home for troubled kids. I know most of them had terrible, horrific lives and I do have a lot of sympathy for them in that, right up until the point where they decide that it is okay to make someone else suffer the same pain they themselves have suffered. It isn't as though they don't know it hurts. But at some point, they decide its okay to make others hurt.
Not every kid that grows up in poverty or abuse ends up being a criminal. Not every rich kid grows up to be a good person. It isn't only socioeconomic status, no matter what sociologists would have you believe. Not every person with a mental illness grows up to be a sociopath and not every mentally healthy person grows up to be "normal." At some point there has to be a decision to embrace evil. The point of that decision is where I cease to have sympathy.
I feel sorry for the wrongly convicted. I'm sure it still happens today, but not as often as it did in the past.
Sometimes. I believe we are all guilty of somethings, but all do not warrant prision. To hard on drug users, and not hard enough on murders, and child molesters.
No...you should feel sorry for the people they killed or raped to get them there...So you kill someone, ok now you get 20 years of a/c, free meals, tv ,gym and don't have to work or pay bills...we give them far to much in my opinion they should get 3 hots and a cot, and all should be made to earn their keep by working like they used to do making infa-structure....
Nope not one little bit. If you saw how the lived you wouldn't feel sorry for them either.
Not really, I just feel sorry for the homeless. They have less than the prisoners.
Yes; but only when I see that there has been a prisoner doing time for a crime he didn't commit.
Yes i do for the wrongly convicted felons and for certain prisoners who got a long prison sentence and didnt deserve to get the long sentence. everyone deserves a second chance.. to redeem themselves.
