very I have a GPS also, but like so much 'technology' it has proven to be wrong more often then it's right

Very well, if it's an updated ordinance survey map or similar.

excellent 99% of the time, with one occasional oops 1% of the time. :)

I have gps but I still use a thomas guide I can use that map preatty well

I do okay. I love geography and that's applicable to map reading. I bet cartographers are even better map readers than one such as I. ;)
